Direct Support Professional, various locations in Wayne County
Classification:
Nonexempt, Hourly, Full-time, Part-time or Relief
Hours of Work:
Generally Afternoon/Evenings/Overnights/Float shifts are available.
Applicant's availability needs to be flexible to include working weekends or holidays on a regular basis.
Location:
Newark, Palmyra, Lyons, Clyde and Sodus (current openings may not be available at every location).
Job Description:
With 13 wonderful houses and a supportive apartment program, our Residential Services Department is seeking compassionate professionals to grow with us. A Direct Support Professional helps adults with a developmental disability in the home environment of a community residence. You will assist individuals to live more independently in a variety of ways such as room care, meal preparation, personal hygiene, leisure time skills, transportation, medical appointments, and self-administration of medication. The Direct Support Professional may be required to assist a person in a wheelchair or someone who uses a walker. A career as a Direct Support Professional provides many challenges and rewards helping people achieve goals of greater independence and community inclusion.
Job Requirements:
Must have High School diploma/GED, current valid NYS driver's license and a safe driving record. Volunteer, work or personal experience in human services or experience caring for a person with a special need/developmental disability is desired but not required. Must possess good written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to lift 25 to 50 lbs. and be able to provide as needed physical assistance to developmentally disabled adults. A Direct Support Professional is expected to drive/transport individuals receiving services within and outside of Wayne County as a regular part of everyday duties. Typical vehicle used to transport is a mini-van. Some locations have cars and two locations use a wheelchair-accessible van. Acceptable result of references, background check, motor vehicle record check and criminal history check required. We provide all training.
Case Manager
Classification:
Non-exempt, Full-time Hourly
Hours of Work:
Monday through Friday (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
Location:
Key Industries, 150 Van Buren Street, Newark, NY 14513
Job Description:
Facilitate the personal and vocational growth of a diverse caseload of individuals receiving services.
Job Requirements:
HS/GED with one year experience in rehabilitation services; or two years of college in the human services field; or other combinations of equivalent or greater education and experience may be considered. Must possess a current, valid NYS driver's license and safe driving record. Must have acceptable results of reference and background checks including criminal history background check.
Teacher of the Visually Impaired
Classification:
Exempt, Temporary - Part-time
Hours of Work:
8 hours/week based on program need. Temporary position for 6 week summer program
(July 7-15, 2014).
Location:
Roosevelt Children's Center
Job Description:
Assess functional vision and provide vision services to young visually impaired children birth to age 5.
Job Requirements:
BA degree with initial certification as a Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired. Experience with preschoolers with disabilities desired. Position may extend to the 2014-2015 school year based on student need.
Vocational Instructor
Classification:
Nonexempt, Full-time Hourly
Hours of Work:
Monday through Friday (7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) with flexibility to meet program needs.

Job Description:
Facilitate the personal and vocational growth of a diverse caseload consisting of individuals with various disabilities.
Job Requirements:
BS degree with 3 years of appropriate experience in one of the following areas: vocational guidance as part of a comprehensive program or vocational rehabilitation facilities or Master degree in related field i.e., rehabilitation, industrial education, etc., and one year experience in a rehabilitation facility. Other combinations of equivalent education/experience may be considered. Must possess a current, valid NYS Driver's license and safe driving record. Must have acceptable results of reference and background checks including criminal history background check.
Food Service Aide
Classification:
Nonexempt, Part-time Hourly
Hours of Work:
Monday through Friday (7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.) with flexibility to meet program needs.
Location:
Key Industries, 150 Van Buren Street, Newark, NY 14513
Job Description:
Provide appropriate supervision and food service related training to program participants assigned to the Food Service Program and assist in the preparation of meals.
Job Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED with experience in food service and/or human services required. Physical requirements: ability to continuously stand/walk. No lifting restrictions. Must have acceptable results of reference and background checks including criminal history background check.
Residential Program Coordinator
Classification:
Exempt, Salaried
Hours of Work:
Monday through Friday with flexibility to meet program needs
Location:
Newark, NY
Job Description:
Oversees operation of all assigned Residential Sites: develops and coordinates services for adults with developmental disabilities and related policy and procedures in compliance with all applicable regulatory standards.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field. An Associate's Degree may be considered if the Bachelor's degree in Human Services filed or related field can be attained within one year of hire. Prefer three years of experience working in residential services with one year in supervisory capacity. Must have current valid NYS driver's license and safe driving record. Must have acceptable results of reference and background checks including criminal history check.
Production Worker
Classification:
Nonexempt, Hourly, Per Diem (Substitute)
Hours of Work:
Varies between 5 a.m. and 4 p.m. any weekday
Location:
Newark, NY and other offsite locations
Job Description:
This position performs various operations as related to the assembly and packaging of sub-contract materials, i.e., running shrinkwrap machine, stacking pallets, opening product, etc. OR janitorial tasks. Maintains the established standards of quality and quantity as outlined by the Workcenter. Supervises individuals receiving services and models appropriate vocational skills and behaviors. Performs work at various work locations in the community.
Job Requirements:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Will consider relevant experience in lieu of education. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to stoop, bend, push and pull. May require a valid NYS Driver's license and safe driving record. This position requires acceptable results of reference and background checks including criminal history.
Respite/Recreation Aide
Classification:
Nonexempt, Hourly, Substitute/Relief hours as needed
Hours of Work:
As needed, generally evenings and weekends
Location:
150 Van Buren Street, Newark, NY 14513 and surrounding communities
Job Description:
Provides care and supervision to individuals with developmental disabilities during agency sponsored recreation or group respite events, or in the individual's home in the absence of the primary caregiver.
Job Requirements:
High school diploma/GED. Must be able to provide physical assistance including lifting. Experience working with developmentally disabled individuals preferred. Must have reliable transportation and acceptable results of background/reference checks.
Physical Therapist
Classification:
Exempt, Salaried, Full Time
Hours of Work:
FT (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) with flexibility. May consider part-time candidate.
Location:
Adult Rehabilitation Services, 150 Van Buren Street, Newark, NY 14513.
Job Description:
Provides physical therapy services, primarily habilitative in nature, to ameliorate or limit a disabling condition or other disease or illness. Provide professional therapies to persons who because of their disability require such services to remain in or move to the least restrictive residential and/or day setting.
Job Requirements:
License and current registration as a Physical Therapist by the New York State Education Department. Prior experience with developmentally disabled preferred. Candidates must possess a current, valid NYS Driver's license which meets agency standards. Position requires acceptable results of references and criminal background checks.
